Week 48. Cover Crazy

Monday is for Book Covers. Absolutely gorgeous book covers! Cover Crazy is a weekly meme hosted by The Book Worms. The purpose of the meme is to admire, appreciate (or lust) on stunning book covers. The Survival Kit by Donna Freitas Published October 11th 2011 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR) loved book covers. Sometimes (more often actually) I shelved books solely for its gorgeous, captivating, enticing covers. This meme doesn’t reflect my TBR list, I just appreciate a beautiful book cover (but more likely I might read it because curiosity always gets the better of me). Plus, I want

When I first saw this book, I was really intrigued. Because—look at the cover, plus the summary. It sends out some eerie vibes to it. It really left my curiosity sated. So I was really glad that it was available on netgalley, and more thankful that I’m granted to read it in advance. “I cheated Death and lived past my expiration date, but my lucky break would come at a price. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Title: Cinder Author: Marissa Meyer Series: (Lunar Chronicles #1) Expected publication: January 3rd 2012 by Feiwel & Friends Rating: I received an eARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group via Netgalley. Thank you. I’m so fortunate to read this book in advance. And let me say this, it was an absolute delight! Cyberpunk Cinderella—that is what came to my mind when I saw this book. I’m a bit apprehensive at first since I’m both not a huge fan of retellings (because sometimes they tend to be too literal with the adaptation) and science fiction (the terms, the info-dumping and the whatnots). I’m

Title: Crossed Author: Ally Condie Series: (Matched #2) Published: November 1st 2011 by Dutton Juvenile Rating: Crossed is the highly anticipated sequel to Matched, one of my favorite dystopian books of all time. I was dying to get my copy of this book, so I can curl in a corner and immerse in, as I continue the journey of Cassia and Ky. But I’m bit…underwhelmed. I liked Matched better, that said it wasn’t really a bad follow up. Just a bit weak. Nevertheless, I still loved this book, and still love this series. A lot of readers say sequel is

Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday

Title: Deadly Cool Author: Gemma Halliday Series: (Deadly Cool #1) Published: October 11th 2011 by HarperTeen Rating: (3.5 - 4 stars. I still can't make up my mind). Let me first say this—I absolutely love the cover. Gorgeous! I gave it five stars for the cover alone, but that would be unfair (and very unreasonable), haha. But I was mesmerized, what can I say. I used to love Meitantei Conan (Detective Conan). Yep, you’ve read it right, used to, until I was getting tired of the same routine. What I loved about it though was this mystery, suspense going on.

I finally got around to reading this book. I was in the mood to read something nice. And glad to say, I was really surprised with this book. I’m expecting it to be kind of a little bit dramatic, heavy with teeny touch of romance. Well…it does have cute romance going on but not really dramatic as I thought it’d be. It was really unexpected that the book turned out as a

Title: Reckoning Author: Lili St. Crow Series: (Strange Angels #5) Published: November 1st 2011 by Razorbill Rating: First. What the heck? That’s it? That’s the ending?! I’m completely disappointed. And utterly frustrated. So, two stars. Just two stars you say? I never like this series anyway, I read this book because…wait, I think I forgot why. Ah, yes, yes, it’s for Christophe. And I’m curious enough to want to know how the series will end. But goodness, please forgive me but I am not happy after I finished it. There was never a time I was happy reading this book.
