Dare You To

8 years ago | filed under Fiction
Author: Katie McGarry Series: (Pushing the Limits #2) Expected publication: May 28th 2013 Publisher: Harlequin Teen Categories: Contemporary, Realistic Fiction Rating: I received an eARC from Harlequin UK via Netgalley. Thank you. The story of golden boy meet skater girl screams ‘opposite attracts.’ And yes, I do believe that the two are different but at the same time similar. It all started as a dare, and Beth was the unknowing victim of Ryan and his friends’ dare. At their first encounter it is very apparent that she got the attitude and she’s different from the girls he usually hang out,

Just One Day

8 years ago | filed under Fiction
Author:  Gayle Forman Series: (Just One Day #1) Published: January 8th 2013 Publisher: Dutton Books Categories: Contemporary, Realistic Fiction Rating: Here’s a little love lesson from Willem. There’s a significant difference between falling in love and being in love. Falling in love is something you can remove; like a nuttela in the wrist which you can wipe clean. While being in love is something will never come off, just like a stain you can't remove. Yes, stained. And I kind of agree with Allyson here that ‘stain’ is not really pretty word to describe something fundamental as love, but in

Boundless

Author:  Cynthia Hand Series: (Unearthly #3) by Published: January 22nd 2013 Publisher: HarperTeen Categories: Fantasy, Paranormal Rating: Ok, you guys I’m ready to speak. I’m ready to shout it out to each and every one concern how much this book disappoints me. I know it’s unfair to judge and rate it on who Clara ended up with. It is totally and utterly unfair. But the story did treat the ‘one I preferred for her’ the exact same way. I wish that he wasn’t that understanding. I wish he did something awful. I wish he wasn’t that supportive of her. I

Mind Games

Author: Kiersten White Series:(Mind Games #1) Expected publication: February 19th 2013 Publisher: HarperTeen Categories: Action, Fantasy, Science Fiction Rating: I received an eARC from HarperTeen via Edelweiss. Thank you. When the blurb says that Mind Games is a stunning departure from her bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, I should’ve believed it. That’s totally true. This book is more edgy, a bit serious with some dark theme going on. I have a confession to make before I go and tell you good folks of what I think of the story. I didn’t finish her Paranormalcy series. I was so disappointed with the sequel and

Shadowlands

Author:  Kate Brian Series: (Shadowlands #1) Published: January 8th 2013 Publisher: Hyperion Categories: Paranormal, Suspense, Thriller Rating: I tried a few books from Kate Brian (and her other pseudonym) and liked them. So when I found out she has written a different kind of book from the bunch I’ve tried, I decided to check it out. There’s no denying that Shadowlands is really different, a little vague but not a complete successful venture to paranormal, thriller combination. This book opens in a very creepy way because aside from Rory Miller’s pov, we also got the stalker’s point of view. How’s

Tuesday is for top ten list! Here’s mine! Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they will post a new Top Ten list  that bloggers will answer. And for this week’s topic: January 15: Top Ten 2013 Debuts I'm Looking Forward To I’m pretty lucky to have read a few titles that I was eagerly anticipating since last year. But sadly they fell in the mediocre category so that completely saddened me. But I'm still positive that 2013 will showcase awesome debut novels. I know there’s going to be new fave titles

The Proposal

Author:  Katie Ashley Series: (The Proposition #2) Published: January 10th 2013 by Publisher: Katie Ashley Productions (Self  Published) Categories: Adult, Contemporary, Realistic Fiction Rating: If you thought there’s no more story left aside from forgiving Aidan and their HEA then you’re wrong. The Proposal is not all about Aidan asking Emma her forgiveness. But we get to see more of them, particularly Aidan. We found out why this guy is a commitment phobe. Plus a sexy doctor which I found out has also an interesting story to tell with Aidan’s niece. But that’s another story for another day. I loved

Author:  Alexandra Monir Series: (Timeless #2) Published: January 8th 2013 Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers Categories: Fantasy, Science Fiction Rating: To put it simply Timekeeper is a complete disappointment and if I’m going to be brutally honest is a waste of good opportunity. I wish that Timeless was a standalone novel, it should’ve ended with Philip remained on his time and Michele moved on with her life in her own time. It might not be a happy ending but there’s a definite closure. Plus the quality of the story remained intact. I waited for this novel for two years

Normally I would have loved it because everything I want in a YA sci-fi novel is here. Plus the inevitable romance which is always a part of the YA package. You know me needs some lovin’. I got those plus more, but my sorry state of mind that day couldn’t process the awesome bits this book offers. This utterly disappoints me since I want to be one of those

But here’s the short version of it: he fell in love with a student, not his student though but he always saw her. But unlike in the books I’ve read he took the high road and didn’t approach her until graduation. Later, they married and had a daughter. No matter how simple the story was. Or how flawed it was, you still enjoyed it. That’s how I describe my relationship with Darkness Before Dawn Trilogy. It wasn’t a masterpiece, and yes I can see bucket full of faults but regardless of the negative stuff it possess I still enjoyed it. Genuinely liked it. Author:  Abbi Glines Series: (Fallen Too Far #1) Published: December 14th 2012 Publisher: Self Published Categories: Contemporary, Realistic Fiction Rating: I’ve read a couple of Abbi Glines books but I was never keen to continue her books especially if I found out that the sequel will focus on other characters. Sometimes I’ve grown too attached with characters that if the story doesn’t center on these fellas anymore, my motivation will surely die down. That is why I have never pick up the sequels of Breathe and The Vincent Boys. Even though I liked those books. So I’m really glad that
