Can’t you believe it?! Tomorrow is September already! And you know what it means? It’s the ‘ber’ months, here in the Philippines, around this season people are already excited for upcoming Christmas holidays (we are pretty excited people, what can I say). Time flies so fast, I’m mean really fast. It feels like it was only just January and now we are almost at the end of the year.

Also, I launched Operation: Rekindle. I think it was almost semi-successful. I did read a book. Yeah, I know, singular. But even though I only read one book this month, I still felt accomplished. It’s better than having no book read at all. Enough of my complaints already, as always, here’s what happened in August:

Flavors of the Month:

The Miniscule Posts:

ARC Acquisition:

  • Love and Other Theories by Alexis Bass
  • Solitaire by Alice Oseman
  • The Memory Key by Liana Liu
  • The Orphan Queen (The Orphan Queen #1) by Jodi Meadows
  • No Cover: Twisted Fate by Norah Olson

Because I can’t help it?

News! News! Hear all about it!

So if you didn’t notice it yet my blog is sporting a new look. Yep, early this week I secretly unveiled my new theme. I wanted a new one so it’ll keep my perspective fresh and my mood motivated.

I also bought a new domain: It’s going to be my online portfolio. I’ve decided to go back again but this time it’s going to be organized. If ever I did get commission, I want it one project at a time so I can focus on it, as well as not to exhaust the limited creative juices that I have LMAO. I’ll be concentrating building this one first. And I’ll be experimenting with some styles I haven’t done yet. Although I drafted the structure already. I’m pretty excited.

So how about you? What’s new with you? Anything fabulous you would like to share? Was it awesome? Tell me about it!

30 Responses to August in a nutshell!

  1. For me, I started blogging again 🙂 I previously had a book blog on Blogger but quit because of school and such. I started blogging again earlier this month and bought my own domain, which was amazing. I’m so happy with how my blog has turned out! Ah, The Evolution of Mara Dyer was amazing! The ending killed me, though, and I can’t wait for the final installment. I love your new blog design <3 I didn't see the previous one since I just started looking at your blog, but I like the new one 🙂

I have a copy of Evolution of Mara Dyer for the longest time & still fail to read it. Soon, I tell myself, very soon. :X

Thank you so much! It means a lot to me.

  2. I really like the new design. You always keep them so classy 🙂

  3. Alice says:

    This new layout is beautiful!

Not much new with me, I’m just really excited for Autumn 😀 I’ve decided September is going to be awesome.

  4. Annie says:

Oh my gosh Mitchii, I love the new design!! It is so pretty. So in awe. How do you make such beautiful designs time and time again???

  5. Finley Jayne says:

    Love the new look!

  6. I love the new design Mitchii! <33 So pretty! 😀 And wonderful haul too – I can't wait to see what you think of all those lovelies, especially The Memory Keys and Solitare as they seem to have a great premise! Thanks for sharing, and happy reading! <3

    • Mitchii G. says:

Thanks Zoe! xD They sound promising, yes? I decided to download ’em thinking it’ll might help me with my slump. So here’s hoping!

  7. Amelia says:

I noticed your new blog design the other day and I have to say I’m in love with it!

  8. Emily says:

Yay for your new blog design! 😀 Very Mitchii and very classy xD And I’m glad that even though you’re not feeling so crazy about reading, you did try anyway, and that’s what counts 😉 I hope in terms of reading, this month will be better for you, big sis <3 And of course, I'm SO HAPPY that you started an online portfolio 😀 Can't wait to see what beautiful designs you come up with all that talent in your little pinky ;D (Did I mention I'm going to use the Fluttereal Flight design for Reverie Rhapsody? :D) All the best, and much love to you <3

    • Mitchii G. says:

I did try, right? But unfortunately I’m always stuck to few pages then eventually give up. I hope to have my reading drive back, at least for books.

Eeep, I don’t know about the talent, but I hope this little venture becomes fruitful!

  9. Alana says:

Oooh! Love and Other Theories by Alexis Bass looks really interesting! Looking forward to hearing your take on it! Love the new layout.. looks awesome 😀

  10. I know I already told you I love your design, but I’m going to say it again: IT IS SO FREAKING GORGEOUS, MITCHII. Every time you change your design, I stand in awe. Seriously. Haha, getting excited for Christmas in December?? That’s pretty hyper of you guys but time flies so fast it’ll be December before we know it. I hope your next read is much better! Haven’t been having much luck with my book slump either. *sobs*

Also, can’t wait to see where Just Peach will go and how it will look! I already know I’m going to be really impressed. 😉 Btw, I watched Ouran HSHC and can I take a minute to gush about how good the romance was? This, YA authors, is how to create good chemistry between characters. I was a little angry there was no kiss between Tamaki and Haruhi, but I went and read the last few chapters of the manga so it’s all good. xD

But still. TAMAKI. Such a lovable dork. <3

    Happy September, lovely!

    • Mitchii G. says:

What are you talking about! Your works are splendid, dude, and you’re fast worker, that I envy so much. >.< We are pretty hyper peeps, radio stations are playing Christmas songs already. It's going to be very simple, like always. YAAAAAY!!! You did! I know, these mangakas know their stories so well, even though they are technically romantically inclined, they still developed the characters and the story, so as whole it's so great. I hope to find a book like this, but maybe it's a culture thing. He is, but I'm big fan of the shadow king, Kyouya. So you can have Tamaki! <3 Likewise! xD

  11. Definitely excited for the ber months! <3 I've heard some people are already Christmas shopping. xD

Don't stress out on trying to read too much, girl. You'll get back into the reading spirit in your own time. 🙂

Definitely love the new designs (duh. I love all of your designs), AND your photography. x)

    Have a great September, Mitchii!

    • Mitchii G. says:

We are excited people. I think some people even started decorating already, LOL.

Aw, thank you Aimee. I’m so happy to hear that. <3

  12. Wow wow wow! The new design looks absolutely amazing. :O *drools*

  13. Leigh says:

I really love your new layout but I also miss the old one. I also got those ARCs too! I’m so excited to read them especially The Memory Key. I agree, time does fly really fast. I can’t believe it’s already September. That’s just crazy. I really can’t wait for Christmas though! It’s my favorite time of the year. I’m Filipino too and I love how we count down for Christmas when it’s ‘ber’ months.

    • Mitchii G. says:

You’re a Filipina too? That’s amazing! It’s so wonderful to meet fellow Filipino bookworms/bloggers. And thanks, I also like the old one but fresh look keeps me motivated…well, hopefully xD

  14. I absolutely love the new website! It’s so simple and elegant and simply fantastic. I like the whitness of it, and the fonts are even good. What’s the font used for the comment area? I would like to use it for something else on my site. It’s just so classy-looking!

    • Mitchii G. says:

Thanks Faye! With limited creativity, simplicity is the only thing I can successfully pull off. ;D

It’s Playfair Display, it is available on Google font. xD

  15. I love the new design so, so much, Mitchii! It’s so very elegant, and of course your signature pink is still there! Beautiful, as always!
