My shoujo manga guilty reads!…

3 years ago | filed under Graphic Novels
I think the concept of guilty reads is more on people perception to the subject as opposed to your own. To me, my guilty pleasure reads are something I don't often enjoy but crave it once in a blue moon. And  while I adore light slice of life shoujo manga: where two main leads blushes furiously over holding hands, sometimes I venture to the mature side! Now, even though I read them, I rarely like series that is ONLY it, it needs to have a plot not just fanservice. Well, they’re good sometimes but I rather spend time on reading

On Spotlight: A special post where I feature some of my favorite reads! Apart from my occasional “great rec post!” I’m also keen on giving full or in-depth post on series: may it graphic novels or in the future books that I truly loved. And perhaps you might pick this up and read it, too! (Banner from freepik!) Despite the numerous times I mentioned and featured Ballroom E Youkoso, I still haven’t discussed it in full detail (and by “full detail” I mean word vomit by fangirl, but yeah semantics!) So, I decided to showcase this amazing sports series that

Ain’t damsel in distress!

I love princess stories but not your average one where these princess is just on the lookout for her prince charming! I want ones that have solid plots! I want a story of a girl that stands her ground! That she is capable of fighting for herself. I also prefer if her prince isn’t just pretty guy riding his ever cliché elegant white horse (not there’s something wrong with those—just ain’t my type!) I want who’s strong both emotionally and physically so both of them together become each others strength! So today I’ll share you my favorite royal gals who

Expect Boku no Hero Academia 『僕のヒーローアカデミア』 to be part of this year’s Best of the Best.  Because it is pretty obvious & irrefutably qualified to be part of my favorite manga that I read this year. I have been hearing about this series for a

Some of my favorite go-to…

5 years ago | filed under Graphic Novels
I’ve mentioned this over and over that you guys are probs sick of it. But lemme say it again: I’m huge advocate of rereading. There’s something really fun and productive (in a way) to read a series that you immensely loved. Knowing things prior is never a hindrance to enjoy it. In fact knowing things ahead kinda make me excited. Sometimes when you just read mediocre series after mediocre series you feel so fed-up & curse everything. But rereading reignites the passion! I admit that not all my favorites are worth the reread. Sometimes even if I loved it the

Oh the Youth! (Part Two!)

I can’t promote Kono Oto Tomare enough! It’s one my favorite series right now. #animewhen? この音とまれ! © Amyuu/Jump Square/Shueisha Inc. Wow, I can’t believe that it’s been almost over a year since I debuted this little monster. And I left a note there that I had plans to have a part two of that! And let me tell you I have already chosen which ones I’ll be giving the spotlight to; but at the last minute I decided against it because I thought of making the sequel a wee bit different. I thought of giving attention to other competitive/tournament types

The Great Webtoon Rec Posts!

5 years ago | filed under Graphic Novels
So get your pen and paper ready because it’s another great rec post from moi again! Ah~ I loved giving recs! I love shoving beautiful pieces of different literary forms in people faces! And the satisfaction I get when people said they liked— loved even, on the things I rec is so blissful! I’ve done too many shoujo/ josei recs to count! And I’m still preparing for my great shonen one (yeah, get ready for that one!) but let’s go to another country, this time South Korea and their fast emerging web comic industry! So in the tradition of rainyink’s

Splurging on digital manga!

5 years ago | filed under Graphic Novels
I’m sharing to y’all my experience on buying digital manga. And yes, this is legit guys so don’t worry (no hocus pocus I swear!). However, and unfortunately for some of us who isn’t fluent in Japanese, the manga titles are completely in Japanese. And the website, as you have already guessed by now is also entirely in Japanese. So yeah that's the biggest gripe there, nonetheless for those of you who don’t mind or like reading raws/comfortable reading in Japanese but don’t want to pay hefty shipping fee, this is a good alternative. I buy both printed & digital manga

Travel the world through manga!…

5 years ago | filed under Graphic Novels
I love reading manga because I’m a big fan of Japanese culture, tradition and history (not as huuuuge as my two sisters are). There was a time I spent two hours hearing the Tokugawa era narrated by my little sister—who is a huge historical junkie as I said. And no, it’s not limited to just Japan, but I digress.) But I do appreciate historical manga and the great thing about graphic novels, it has pictures! I’m not as big of historical fiction fan, book wise. I’m the type who understands a concept or idea when presented to me visually. It

And perhaps you might pick this up and read it, too! I’d been eyeing The Breaker for the longest time. I have good experience with manhwa that geared towards action plus the art from what I’d seen prior to reading was really good. No, awesome! So I decided last week that I shouldn’t let my curiosity

In which Mitchii find herself…

6 years ago | filed under Graphic Novels
I touched the unknown ground called webcomic/toon—the very same place the snob, manga elitist Mitchii of before avoided like a plague. I like the traditional look that manga or the usual black and white pages I’ve grown accustomed to better; and forgive me manhwa lovers I just don’t like the art style (of course there’s an exemption to this rule because I do love the art of Goong and Bride of the Water God but those messy hairstyles, eccentric fashion style and liberated choice of colors don’t suit my very singular palate). But my curiosity has been bugging me to

Dem songs from anime for…

(We’re interrupting the rainyink's ‘lil anniv bash for some otaku goodies) It comes from being huge anime fan is loving the music that comes from it. I anticipate Opening/Ending songs as much as I do with the anime itself. Being an otaku made me a huge fan of Japanese music (for obvious reasons). I love how it has so many genres and me being a music lover that knows no language barrier, I can’t help but fell in love with the music scene there. So in case your playlist needs some variety I give you songs from anime you might
