Another confession: I hoard free digital stuff like crazy! I’m the type of person who thinks of reserves or the “in case I need it in the future” ‘cos I really don’t like the feeling of running out, so if I can’t help it, I always have something in stash. Yep, that’s my very motto when it comes to digital products—especially these guys are free. I mean, you just gotta to have it! I have few design resources in my hard drive sitting there waiting for me to use. Some are new, others are few months or a year, while a ton of them are sitting there accumulating digital dust.
Kinda shameful I know. But I like hoarding stuff in case I might use it in the future. But the thing is whenever I need something I even go and find stuff to use. So yeah, my hard drive carrying unnecessary weight. So, it was time to do some spring cleaning in the middle of autumn (well, not that there’s autumn or spring here but you get my gist right, tropical dwellers? )
I went and deleted tons of stuff and reformatted my account (in my PC) and wow, the amount of junk I have is unbelievable that I saved so much space! It’s been years since I went and did some major digital clean-up and I’m glad that I did because lately my PC is lagging and I thought well, I guess it’s time do some cleaning. I also do this huge clean up to my stuff at home, sometimes I kept them in a box wondering when I’ll use it but it just gotten old and worn out There’s no other option that to let go!
Although I did say that I’m very nostalgic person, that I’m not the type to let go of things quite easily, but sometimes when convenience is asking that, we gotta make a choice. Of course, the deleting part it’s not the hardest, its sorting out the important and the not-so important (for the lack of better phrase) that’s take a lot of time. We don’t want to cry over spilled milk when you accidentally delete files you really need on your stash. So, when it comes to these things, it’s heaven-sent that online hard drives like google drive and one drive are there to the rescue! Backups, baby, backups! I save them now there…you know just in case—at least the important ones. But for the “in the meantime” important as I aptly called it, we can always delete them.
I used to take digital space for granted. But time and time, we also need to consider maintenance whether it’s the monthly manual scan, refreshing, updating, and one thing we cannot forget is clean-up. I know how a big time saver auto clean-up apps are but nothing more secure than doing it on your own!
