So how was July, reading wise? A little bit of this and little bit of that! (or whatever that means! ) I tried few series but some didn’t leave enough impression to progress significantly! I’m trying to rectify that this August (and I think I did improve by picking up a great series to start of the month!) But let’s pedal-backed to last month and check out what did I read! Statistics wise, it was kinda balanced compare to previous months obviously shoujo dominated reading list! Last month I read (5) five shoujo, (4) four shonen, (2) two josei & (1) one seinen! Not shabby, right?!
After I watched the first episode of Amaama to Inazuma, I decided to hop into the manga soon after! Yep, that crazily curious to know what’s next! And it filled me up with lots of fluff & cuteness! I really, really loved it! Butter!!! was my answer to this sudden withdrawal from Ballroom E Yokuso! hiatus. (And the waiting game is painfully real!) Yes, it’s about ballroom dancing…or supposedly. See, the author said it’s about social dance + teen drama. Well, there was more teen drama than ballroom dancing to tip the scale off! And you could say I’m utterly disappointed because of it! Bye Bye Brother just another shoujo manga, & honestly I forgot what this was about…pseudo -incest I think? One thing for sure it was really forgettable!
Chikyuu wa Boku ga Mawasu a josei series about a guy who was lost in his own unending dream; a manifestation of his denial to his real life problems. And the girl inside of his dream was said to be a dream eater. It was quick, kinda psychological drama with teeny bit of romance! I liked it. Hana o Meshimase is cute shoujo about a troubled girl and the handsome florist who gave her hope! It was nice story! For those who loved Haru X Kiyo or Lovely Complex, then Kare to Kanojo no Chiguhagu is your shoujo! Small guy, tall girl and the comedic circumstances that will develop into something more! This one was funny!
Kare to Koi Nante, another josei about a girl got cheated & tried to move on to a guy with no strings attached! Or so she thought! Konya wa Tsuki ga Kirei Desu ga, Toriaezu Shi ne is an interesting shonen manga about a disease that plagues humanity—people that are affected by it will want to kill their lovers! Thrilling psychological shonen series! Really rec’d it! Kore wa Ai ja Nai no de, Yoroshiku is a funny shoujo series about a girl who is so passionately in love with his chick flick to the point she decided to imitate it in real life; unknown to the little boy who did fall for her that everything was just make-believe. Years later he wants revenge! Funny one, this series! LOL
Machida-kun no Sekai one of those rare shoujo series with male protag and feels more like a slice of life series than romance! Machida-kun is an interesting boy and how observes & thinks of the people around him! Very nice! Red Raven is about mafia society and a kid who enforced punishment to those who break the rules! Background was interesting, characters design was little meh to me (the protag reminds a bit of Edward Elric’s character design: small stature, red coat and blond hair! But it was good based on the chapters I sampled! And finally Shinigami to Gin no Kishi a fantasy shonen series about knight was tricked by the Grim Reaper and traded his soul to save the girl he promised to protect. Now he’s also similar the zombie-like creatures he was after. And before he caves into his desires to eat a soul, he must hunt down the grim reaper! Super love + art is gorgeous! Can’ wait for more chapters!
And that’s it! So how about you, how’s the reading pile? Overwhelming like mine? Care to share it with me?
