Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Even if I’m sitting still I get sick much more if I’m reading. Anything that moves while I’m in it tend to make me dizzy.

Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

I would also say Tahere Mafi but the style was because of Juliette’s personality. So this time I’ll choose Sui Ishida. I know it’s not a novel per se but I never had read something that is subtly engaging, as if I’m challenged by the writer to rationalize the development happening in the story.

Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

I’d say Twilight.

  • I have yet to (or maybe will not) read any Harry Potter book.
  • Twilight is my gateway to reading.
  • I did enjoy it. If I read it now I think my opinion will remain unchanged.

Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?

Nope. What does a book bag looks like anyways?

Do you smell your books?

Yes, is that weird?

Books with or without little illustrations?

Depends. For novels I tend to imagine them as real person so if there are illustrations it kind of distract my imaginative process.

What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

I’m not big fan of reading when I was kid so no funny stories about the child me & reading. But I have lots of funny childhood memories. I love my childhood!

What is the tiniest book on your shelf?

Trust in Me by y J. Lynn (it’s a pocketbook size).

What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Breaking Dawn too before I parted with the copy but now I think it’s Goliath by Scott Westerfeld. Oh, it’s quite heavy as well because the paper is thick.

Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

I would want to, I have so many ideas, but no writing skills whatsoever.

When did you get into reading?

I think when I was taking my post grad (I am a later bloomer LOL). That was the height of Twilight (New Moon movie) and curiosity got the better of me.

What is your favourite classic book?

Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

In school what was your best subject?

I think Journalism, Biology and Physics. Yes, I was even thinking of taking journalism in college but persuaded by my father to take something else. Back then I was so good with my grammar. *sobs*

Btw I suck at Math, at least ones that don’t allow me to use the calculator.

If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?

Take it. I don’t think I have the heart to refuse something that is gifted even though I don’t like it.

What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

I don’t think this series not well-known but for Harry Potter-esque series, I’d say Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. And for series that is somehow similar to Hunger Games, I think The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse comes to mind.

What is a bad habit you always do while blogging?

Not proofreading.

What is your favorite word?

I think Chiara asked me this already: Peach~!

Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I’d say geek too!

Vampires or Fairies? Why?

Fairies! Because they’re glittery and cute.

Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Angels? Because they are majestic.

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Spirits, oh wait maybe werevolves…neither?

Zombies or Vampires? Why?

Vampire, I’d rather be on a blood diet than eat innards of human. Plus the rotting and all.

Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

A love triangle in a forbidden love.

And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

Action-packed with a few love scenes! I love fight scenes!

I couldn’t think of anyone else and maybe they were already tagged. So if you feel like doing it! Then you!

  1. Whoa. Lots of questions covering EVERYTHING. Now I get why it’s ultimate.

I didn’t like Twilight but it was definitely a gateway. I’d say Harry Potter all the way because that was childhood and it got me into reading period. I love peaches too. The food. My fave word would probably be something like “hella” or something i can’t say here because it’s baaaaaad

    • Mitchii G. says:

I don’t like the food, but love the word ahaha. Everyone says HP but my decision is hardly shaken. Maybe it’s not for me. :’D

  2. Okay, I will try to refrain from yelling at you about the third answer. 😉 I know a lot of people hate Twilight, but honestly, I think it’s fine that you loved it, and it’s even better still that it was what got you into reading in the first place! But I really do wish you would give Harry Potter a chance — at least read it once in your life, you know?! (Not that I’ve read Twilight, heh.) You probably know that I’m a huge HP fan, and for me the series was what ignited my love for reading as well. There’s a reason why it’s so popular and so beloved around the world, so I hope that you’ll read it sometime in the future! You never know, it might become your next favorite book! 🙂

But yep, other than that, you and me are pretty similar. I envy people who are able to read while in the car or on the train or in the airplane, because I CAN’T, and it makes me so annoyed! Like, I’d rather do things other than stare out of the window but if I do anything else (even play games on my phone), I’d feel like throwing up within minutes. Ugh. And haha, Mitchii, I’m the queen of book smelling. I literally smell every book I can get my hands on, not only storybooks.

And ooh, you’ve read Artemis Fowl! I remember reading that when I was small, and it was pretty good! I can’t remember much of the story now though, except that the main character has some anti-hero-ish traits? Idk? And lmao, I hated Forsaken. So boring and so slow. Then again, I don’t do very well in the patience department. xD

    Action scenes for the winnnn!

    • Mitchii G. says:

I know you’re this hugest HP fan but forgive me, I don’t think I’m up to the task. The movies ruin it for me and I don’t think I’m that motivated to try. LOL I actually liked Forsaken. I knew Artemis Fowl but like HP so lazy to try it. T^T

  3. This is so cute! 😀 I remember doing this tag a long, long time ago, and I still enjoy reading it when other people post about it!

By the way, Breaking Dawn is one of the thickest books I own as well (although, I have Deathly Hallows, but I’m not so sure which one is thicker.) I liked Twilight, but my interest in it sort of drifted away now 😛 Aw is there any way to get you to read Harry Potter? Haha 🙂 But I totally understand if you don’t want to read it, though. I just wish you had given it a try. It’s not that bad, you know 🙂

Great post! Again, I love reading tags!

    • Mitchii G. says:

I don’t think I’ll be ever over Twilight for the sole reason I owe it big time. Without it I might not be reading now.

  4. I rarely get sick if I read in the car, but it really depends on the road. If there are a lot of bumps and humps it’s not going to work for me.
HP/Twilight *internal scream* haha. No Harry Potter?
I would say books with (little) illustrations, because I love it when the beginning of every chapter has some sort of drawing.
Math is HORRIBLE. I was so bad at it :’)
Action-packed books are the best! If there is a hint of romance I’m happy, I don’t like the focus to be on the romance.

    • Mitchii G. says:

Yeah, no HP. For some reason I was so unmotivated to read. The movies might have affected my judgement if ever so I’d rather not.

  5. Cars make me extremely dizzy too, even when I’m not reading, and ESPECIALLY if I’m hungry.

I love your Twilight answer! I haven’t completely read either series (I’ve read sort of half of each), and I really like both. I get your reasons for maybe not reading HP though. The series is incredibly long!

And I feel the same way about writing! I have a million ideas I want to pen, but when I start to write, I’d realize how crappy my writing is. 🙁

And yes to action-packed books with tidbits of an adorable and swoony romance here and there. 😉

  6. Faye M. says:

Weirdly, I don’t actually mind reading if I’m in a train or in on a plane. But a car or a bus are big no-nos. I actually felt like vomiting once because I pushed reading it ^^;; I really want to author a book someday, and am writing a story now on Wattpad! Not sure how good (or crappy) I am but practice makes perfect, right? XD

    • Mitchii G. says:

You do? Wattpad is like the craze among teens these day. Hey, maybe next time you’ll hit big time! Don’t forget the little people like me if that comes. ^^

  7. Kezia says:

I don’t get sick when I’m reading in a car but I strictly forbid myself from doing so because my eyesight is already bad enough hahaha. But probably I will let myself if I need a quick last-minute review for an exam 😛 I write some short stories (fanfics actually) when it comes to my own original ideas, I always have trouble expressing them into words. Writing is a skill that grows with practice so I might improve in the future ^^

    • Mitchii G. says:

That’s also one of the reason why I don’t read inside a moving vehicle, apart that it makes really dizzy.
I wish I have the patience to hone my non-existent writing skills, alas, my stories will remain in my head, haha.

  8. I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read the Harry Potter books! I feel like almost everyone in the book blogging community has, so we shall take up arms together, Mitchii! XD

What do pocket sized books look like? I don’t think we have them over here! I am imagining a TINY book, but maybe it’s a bit smaller than the actual size may be, haha!

You were good at Physics? *screaming* Physics was MY WORST, so I never took it up again after doing a term of it. EEP. It was so harrrrdddddd >.<

I wish YA had more fight scenes, to be honest! I feel like sometimes they are glossed over, which is kind of sad.

I'm glad you did this tag, Mitchii!! It was fun reading your answers ^.^

    • Mitchii G. says:

Same, but I don’t know, I feel I have enough via the movies. Pocketbook sizes are smaller than paperbacks (smaller than UK version). Most adult books here, especially romance books, has that size.

I am, but I suck at Chemistry which was prerequisite subject to take Physics, so there’s that. 😛 Yup, it was so glossed like to elevate the characters “know-hows” than genuine part of her/his personality. Shame though.

And thanks for tagging me! <3
